The Continuum catalogue will soon be made available again on Heritage Records, thanks to a contract signed between Tim Grocutt of that label, and Lyndall Foldváry-Khouri, widow of the late Murray Khouri. Among records to be re-released will be those made by John McCabe for Continuum during the early 1990s. These will include the outstanding double album named Transatlantic Piano, and the highly-praised recording of Bax's Symphony/Sonata in E flat, the Second Piano Sonata and Legend for piano. Among the works on Transatlantic Piano are piano sonatas by Carter and Copland, John Adams's Phrygian Gates and Richard Rodney Bennett's masterwork for piano, Noctuary.
Murray Khouri, apart from starting up the Continuum label, was also an internationally-known clarinettist, and he and John recorded Brahms's First and Second Clarinet Sonatas, together with the Clarinet Sonata Op 84 by Hans Gál, at that time an almost forgotten name. All these recordings were very well-received on first issue, and it is good that, through this arrangement with Heritage Records, they will be made available once more.
