Rare Outing for Early McCabe Quintet

Nocturnal, an early Piano Quintet written by John McCabe in 1966, received a rare outing on Sunday 16th January 2022 at 3pm, performed by the distinguished English pianist Kathron Sturrock together with her group, The Fibonacci Sequence. Nocturnal is inspired by John Donne's 'A Nocturnal Upon St. Lucie's Day', and the concert was performed under the auspices of the Oxford Chamber Music Society, at the Holywell Music Rooms in Holywell Street, Oxford. The Fibonacci Sequence and Kathron have been long-time supporters of McCabe's chamber music, having recorded many of his works for Dutton, including the Concerto for Piano and Wind Quintet. The remainder of the programme consisted of Mozart and Dohnányi.
