In a rich programme of brass band music, the Royal Northern College of Music Brass Band Festival, organised by Paul Hindmarsh, celebrates the contribution of John McCabe in this field. Performances will take place on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th January, with the Festival continuing until Sunday evening 27th.
The McCabe works included are Salamander (Foden’s Band, conducted by James Gourlay: 25th January 7.30pm); Northern Lights (RNCM Band: 26th January 10.30am); and Cloudcatcher Fells (Brighouse and Rastrick Band, conducted by Dr David Thornton: 26th January 2pm).
The Festival will also celebrate the music of Wilfred Heaton, and the 60th birthday of Sir James MacMillan, alongside festival regulars including Martin Ellerby, Edward Gregson and Philip Wilby.
